LGRR results from recent races
Here are a few Lions Gaters results from races in the past few weeks. It's great to see Daniel and Marcus Ribi running so well this year. They do have the benefit of good genes and a very experienced mentor in Willi.
Also, best of luck to all who are running the Scotia half marathon this Sunday. It looks like over 4000 have entered - and that's just the online pre-entries. For all you procrastinators, tomorrow is the last chance to enter.

Scorched Sole 50km (June 7 2008) - by Jim Swadling
You'd think after a running career spanning 48 years, including maybe forty or fifty ultras (not that I’m counting), I would have learnt a few things about running. Maybe even enough to avoid some of those “running 101” novice errors we all know about. Apparently not, as I discovered in last weekend’s Scorched Sole 50k trail race in the Okanagan.

Running on the Edge…and trying not to fall off (June 8, 2008) - by Pamela Campbell

With race packet pick-up I got a survey form to complete and one of the questions was "would you run the Edge to Edge again?"...I read this after getting back from driving the route on Saturday...and now know the full extent of the challenge ahead....unfortunately 'Not on your nelly/I must be insane/Again?! I don't even want to do it the first time!' were not any of the response options provided so I decided to leave the survey until later. The Edge to Edge race website says you should run this race because it: “offers a unique opportunity to accomplish your running goals in a world renowned location, well-known for the natural beauty it possesses. You will enjoy a "perfectly" natural route as it follows an undulating course through the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, finishing in the small village of Ucluelet. The distance between the two villages is the perfect marathon distance surrounded by old growth forests and crashing ocean waves”. La, la, la...doesn't it sound lovely? But here are the real reasons:

San Diego Rock'n'Roll marathon - by Linda Wong
oh god, that hurt .. i'm never doing another marathon again! Geez, who wants to go through that much pain! I really don't think I'm made to run a marathon .. Oh cripes, that hurts .. ow ow ow!!!!" Oh c'mon now .. you've said those exact words before .. ok, maybe not those EXACT words but the sentiment's the same.
It's a marathon! They hurt!! And why do I forget so easily?
Is it like childbirth .. when they say that you forget the pain and then want to do it again? I suspect so but the pain is different. Running a marathon is not like having a child tear through your insides to come out. A bit too graphic? Sorry. :)
Oh .. Sunny San Diego .. what can i say?
This trip was a little more than just a marathon for me .. the race ended up being a metaphor for certain things that were going on in my life - a weekend of healing, release, pain, and a new beginning.
I have to say that I was really fortunate to have Jeanne with me. We had a ton of fun - shopping, eating, enjoying the sunshine. The people are friendly, the city was fun, and the sun was shining (so much so that i brought home a little bit of a sun burn) - it's not a surprise that Jeanne and I had many fleeting moments of moving there during our 4 day stay.
Before the sun even rose on Thursday morning, I was out of bed, packing my last few things before grabbing Jeanne to head to the airport.. it was a cold and sleepy morning. A few naps and one connecting flight, we arrived in San Diego .. the sun beamed down on us as we breathed in a city lined with majestic palm trees and beautiful purple flowers.
So what do we do?
