2. LGRR 2010 MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL 
If you have not already done so please send your 2010 LGRR / BCA membership renewal to Jim Swadling. 

You can also renew in person at the LGRR meeting on May 5.

3. BC ATHLETICS MEMBERSHIP CARDS
Jim Swadling has BCA membership cards for LGRR club members. He can give them to you at the upcoming meeting. 5. 40th JAMES CUNNINGHAM SEAWALL RACE 
Oct 31 (Halloween)
Linda Wong is looking for ideas from LGRR's for the the 40th Annual Cunningham Seawall Race to be held on Halloween, Sunday, October 31, 2010.
We are also looking for recommendations for a charity to support.

6. LGRR 40th ANNIVERSARY 2011 
a. If anyone in the club has some race results, entry forms, photos or memorabilia of LGRR races from the 1970, & 80's please contact Frank Stebner.

b. We are also looking for the LGRR minutes from 1972. Someone apparently borrowed them from Ed MacDonald a few years ago not realizing that these were not copies. If anyone else has copies of the LGRR meeting minutes from 1972 please contact Frank at fstebner@gmail.com.

 
7. LGRR DISTANCE CARNIVAL  

At the last meeting Newton Hoang presented a very interesting concept for a family fun track event to be held in the summer. While he was hoping to stage the event in 2010, Newton is now proposing to organize this event for 2011 during LGRR's 40th year anniversary. Newton is very enthusiastic and looking for support from the club. Please contact Newton if you want to get involved. newtonhoang@gmail.com

F. Royal Victoria Marathon, Sunday Oct 10, 2010 http://www.royalvictoriamarathon.com/ Bob Reid from our club is the elite coordinator for this popular marathon, half marathon and 8K. Perhaps we can get a LGRR to send a team or two to enter the team events.

10. BMO VANCOUVER MARATHON MAY 2, 2010
Good luck to all LGRR's that are participating in any of the events at the BMO Vancouver Marathon on Sunday, May 2 http://www.bmovanmarathon.ca/

 
As some of you know the BMO Vancouver Marathon was founded by Lions Gate Road Runners and was known as the Lions Gate Road Runners International Marathon from 1972 to 1978. We have recently contacted Don Basham who was the marathon race director from 1972 to 1985.  Don was also race director of the Cunningham Seawall Race for the first 20 years.  LGRR organized the marathon until 1987 when the Vancouver International Marathon Society was created and took it over.  Don Basham is also very keen to get involved in the LGRR 40th anniversary celebrations.

 
Many LGRR's are still involved with organization of the Vancouver Marathon events:  Geoffrey Buttner, Linda Wong, Mark Williams, Frank Stebner, Jordan Myers, Newton Hoang, Leo Lam, Lynn Thompson, Jack Taunton, Marty Wanless.

 
The BMO Vancouver Marathon is still looking for volunteers for this year if you are interested. As a zone leader Mark Williams may need some more volunteers. remow@shaw.ca or check the marathon website to volunteer.
